The Ripple Effect

Takayna Trail 2026

A Trail Run Through Ancient Rainforest

In February 2026, we ran the Takayna Trail to protect one of the world's last remaining temperate rainforests. Through our Ripple Effect program and the support of our community, we contributed to something far bigger than ourselves.

Huperco raised $6,500

The Experience

The Takayna Trail isn't just a run. It's a journey through some of the most breathtaking and unforgiving terrain in Australia.

Thick natural rainforest surrounded us at every turn, including a knee deep, cold river crossing!

The elevation gain reminded us why Takayna is known in running circles not just for its breathtaking scenery, but for its gruelling physical demands.

Part of the team included Ed Ockenden, five-time Olympian, Tassie legend and one of Australia's most accomplished athletes. Ed conquered the 65km course.

Watching someone of his calibre take on Takayna reinforced what we already knew: this event attracts people who understand what it means to push themselves, to commit to something difficult, and to finish what they start.

What We Take From This

At Huperco, we talk about resilience, sustained performance, and the transformative power of structured training.

Takayna embodies all of it.

To complete a 37km or 65km trail run requires months of preparation. You build physical capacity gradually. You learn to manage discomfort. You develop mental strategies for when the body wants to quit but the goal remains ahead. These aren't abstract concepts - they're lived experiences that transfer directly to how you show up in work, in relationships, in life.

"The training required for an event like this doesn't just prepare you for race day. It teaches you how to be resilient, how to commit to long-term improvement, and how to maintain a positive mindset when things get hard. That's the real value."

But beyond the physical achievement, what struck us most was the atmosphere. The Takayna Trail community is unlike anything we've experienced. Everyone was encouraging, positive, genuinely invested in each other's success. There was no ego, no competition in the toxic sense - just shared respect for the challenge and mutual support to get through it.

That's the kind of environment that brings out the best in people. It's refreshing. It's rare. It's worth protecting.

Why Takayna Matters

The Takayna Trail run is the largest fundraising event for the Bob Brown Foundation, an organisation dedicated to protecting Tasmania's ancient rainforests from logging and mining. This isn't abstract environmentalism - it's about preserving one of the last remaining temperate rainforests on the planet.

Beyond Fundraising: Awareness and Action

The event brings people from across the country to experience Takayna firsthand. They run through it. They see it. They feel connected to it. Then they go home and spread the word. That's how movements grow - not through distant advocacy, but through direct experience that creates genuine advocates.

This year, the Takayna Trail raised close to $400,000 for conservation. Our contribution of $6,500 represents a small but meaningful part of that collective effort.

We're now part of that network of people who've experienced Takayna and will continue to champion its protection.

That's the ripple effect in action.

This Takayna contribution represents the collective support of corporate partners and individual clients who choose to work with us because they value performance with purpose.

To everyone who contributed. Whether through program participation, direct donations, or simply spreading the word - thank you. Your support made this $6,500 contribution possible, and it will grow as we continue our work through the rest of 2026.

This Is Just The Beginning

The experience of training for and completing Takayna has reinforced something we've always believed: sustained physical challenge, when approached with proper support and structure, doesn't just build fitness—it builds character, resilience, and community.

We're exploring ways to bring more people into experiences like this. To combine elite-level training with meaningful purpose. To create opportunities for transformation that extend far beyond the finish line.

If you're interested in being part of our 2027 Takayna Ripple Effect program, developing your fitness, your mental resilience and achieving something remarkable, reach out.
